Indira Bey has extensive experience in teaching at New York City area schools. Ms. Bey taught a fourth-grade class at Sisulu Children’s Academy, where she was responsible for curriculum and lesson planning, as well as implementing cooperative learning strategies in the classroom. Providing group instruction in science, math, literature, and writing, Indira Bey also worked individually with students to address their difficulties and achieve their goals.
Prior to teaching the fourth grade, Indira Bey developed a comprehensive writing program for fourth-grade classes at Sisulu Children’s Academy in preparation for the NYS Standards test. Ms. Bey’s initial position as a literacy instructor for the New York City Department of Education prepared her for a career dedicated to serving her community through youth education.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Media from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Currently working toward a dual Master’s degree in Childhood and Special Education, she previously held roles as a freelance writer, a researcher for a TV content analysis firm, and as a television production assistant.
